Any material found to contain more than 1% asbestos.
Where asbestos may be found:
- Attic and wall insulation,
- Roofing and siding shingles,
- Textured paint and patching mixtures used on walls and ceilings,
- Walls and floors around wood-burning stoves,
- Water pipes coated with insulating material (see image below),
- Oil and coal furnaces,
- Heat-resistant fabrics, or
- Automobile clutches and breaks.
