Strong, cloth-backed, sometimes waterproof, adhesive tape. Duct tape was originally used for repairing leaks in ventilation and heating systems in the 1970’s. Now, duct tape is used in many applications (such as connecting sheets of vapor barrier or holding objects in place) and only special types of tape can be used on heat ducting.
