Having a surface or front of a specified kind.
For example, “paper faced insulation” would be insulation that has at least one side of paper on it. “Foil faced insulation” has a tinfoil-like side to it.
Faced insulation is sometimes used in areas that are moist, such as crawlspaces or attics. Faced insulation always gets installed with the faced side toward the conditioned space.
There is also unfaced insulation which means it does not have a paper or foil side to it. This is generally used in walls and areas where there will be no condensation or moisture.
